Does anyone know Hypnosis here? I have heard that if you know hypnosis, you have an edge over the dealer/casino. Is that true?

Has anyone tried it?

I think you’re talking about the different CDs that people sell that teach you card counting through hypnosis? It’s usually just to give you a deeper understanding of the game and how it works since your subconscious can figure puzzles out faster. I have heard about a hypnosis memory technique that helps when card counting too, but I’m not sure how much of an edge it gives you.

I do not know how to preform it, but I obviously know about it. I’m sure a quick search on google would find the answer as to how to do this.

I do know that I don’t approve of such activities. I don’t find it natural at all.

Yeah, I don’t know, I usually think that hypnosis is a bunch of bull. I have heard of people both learning with it and trying to manipulate the dealer with it, and I think they’re crazy. I know there was a TV show once, I think on BBC, where a professional hypnotist made a croupier mess up a game in a casino, but I think you’d really have to be working on it. I doubt it’s something you could accomplish just as a hobbyist. You’d have to really set aside some time for it!

I doubt a Google search would make you a competent hypnotist. The most common hypnotist hype with blackjack is, like was said before, the process of learning subconsciously while under hypnosis. As far as people who actually hypnotize anyone at the table, I have a hard time believing that this works much at all. I’d be interested in seeing some statistics.

Oh! lots of replies. I never thought people were so much interested in this kind of voodoo acts. Seems like I need to dedicate few hours for learning hypnosis.

I dont think that that would be a very good way of trying to beat the house to be honest.

Well honesty and casino doesn’t match even remotely. So lets forget about being honest. I don’t say you become an expert hypnotist and use your talent on the dealer but you could definitely use it to memorize lots of strategies and stuff.

@ regi21: I don’t think that’s true. Gamblers aren’t cheaters. Gamblers gamble because they like it. They don’t rip off someone else to gamble. So I don’t think what you said is even REMOTELY true.

I have practiced hypnosis and have seen the amazing results too but as now I don’t visit casinos anymore its of now use.

Hypnosis is really effective. I am a psychologist and I am practicing hypnosis because that’s my field of interest. I used it once in the casino, but without some psychological tricks, it wouldn’t be that effective.
