My friends and I are going this weekend to Atlantic City. How much money do you think I should take? Is $700 enough?

How much can you afford to lose? However much you can afford to lose is the amount of money that you should take. If you can afford to lose $5000 and you want to have the weekend of a lifetime, then take it! If you can only afford to take $1000, then only take $1000. The more money you take, the more fun you have (usually), but you still have to go back home after the weekend is over and blowing all your money is going to make your life worse.

I definitely agree with twoeyedjack! Do not take more than you can afford to lose, otherwise you’ll be gambling your life away. I think that should be a rule of thumb for any gambler for any game!

I have a different strategy. I set a loosing limit to myself. I push myself until I reach the limit and then I leave the table. Moreover I take out 50% of my profits and for balance I have the same strategy.

Nothing is enough. You can loose your money, house, car, girlfriend and yourself too while gambling. So like other mature players said, keep your loosing limit and just make sure that you are comfortable with it.

As a rule of thumb I would say take 50% of what you can afford to use to be on the safe side.

Take what you want, but if you start loosing more than half of what you came with, stop right then and there and just walk away. It’s not worth it.

Well that’s a good suggestion joker. It could be a great thumb rule too. If all the amateur players use it they would become much more successful over the time. Everyone needs to understand that every day can’t be your day. You win some you loose some.

Well like most of the guys above I too observe that I loose no more than 50% of my initial money. Don’t keep on playing once you have lost 50%. Try another day, everyday isn’t your day.

Great tips guys. Thanks for the suggestion. Many times over I have lost lots of money by gambling in haphazard manner. I will follow your advice from now onwards.

I would definitely say don’t take any more money than you can afford to lose. Place aside how much money you think you can live without and play with that. Hopefully, that doesn’t include your monthly rents or anything else you need to survive.

Like others said I definitely agree that you should take only what you can afford to loose. BTW Has anyone ever lost more than what he had? Is it possible?

That’s not possible unless the casino manager is your friend. Coz if you don’t have money you can’t buy chips and if you don’t have chips how will you loose them?
