How not to make a table angry…

I remember when I was first learning to play 21 at a Casino and I was with my younger brother who had much more experience gambling than I did. I was dealt a 16 and there were about 4 other people at the table and I hit and busted with face card. I got this strange look from the the rest of the table at which point my brother leaned over and sad…The dealer would have busted with that card and you have just pissed everyone at the table off because the dealer won the hand.

Lesson learned…don’t make the people at the table mad by hitting when you should be staying.

No offense, but too bad for the rest of the table!  You could have been hit with the right card and won the round just as easily.  You have to go by what you feel is right for you - the rest of the players should be looking out for themselves.

No offense taken…but the idea of the game is to beat the dealer and by making him/her bust out with a face card makes the rest of the table happy. Busting out on a card that would have forced the dealer to bust is a cardinal sin in Blackjack.

I’ve got to agree with RU. It’s your money on the table. If the other players don’t like how you play, then they are free to leave the table and play elsewhere. Since no one on the table can see the next card to be dealt, then no one can say what is right or wrong. However, with that being said, if I were playing at a table in which the player was making outrageous plays such as hitting on a hard 19, then it might be time to move away.

As far as busting the dealer. I’ve seen it both ways. People take hits when they shouldn’t and the dealer busts because they took the hit and I’ve seen the dealer make their hand as well. I think it all evens out over time.

It probably does even out over time, but it’s still nice to not piss everyone off as soon as you join a table. I’m sure it was just beginner’s luck.

You should not worry about making everyone else mad - they’ll be mad if you win anyway. If you’re going to go around being nice to everybody, you might as well just hand them your money so they don’t have to go through the hard work of betting!

Being friendly with the table is a good way to get started. You don’t want to keep it up forever, obviously, since you don’t want to just hand them your cash. But it’s a good way to get everyone comfortable and break the ice. Once everyone is aligned against the dealer, it’s easier for them to feel ok when you win and they don’t.

I always try to be myself and listen to my mind only. I have played at various casinos and have good share of luck. I suggest to think about yourself only because ultimately its your money at stake.

While you should definitely concentrate on your game, as other guys are also playing with you its better to maintain the mood on the table.

While I partially agree with you playdow, as I am risking my money I am least concerned with anyone else. Yes I try to see that others are not disturbed due to my game but thats it.

Well I like to play at table where I find dealer as well as other players to be mature enough. I watch for few hands and only if I find it suitable, I start playing on a particular table. This has generally worked. I never had any brawls at casinos.

I always play my own game.  If others are offended, there are other tables at the casino.  If you play for others, you are going about this the wrong way, any game that is about money should be a greedy game.

I completely agree with blackjack. Its your money and you should just see that you make some more out of it. Trying to be helpful to others is not going to help you in your game.

In blackjack you are playing with the dealer and not with other gamblers. So my understanding says that you don’t need to pay attention to other players.

I wouldn’t say pay attention to other players but taking a card that the dealer would bust on is going to make everyone angry. Especially if you don’t go by the book on the odds of playing 21. You are playing against the dealer and anytime you can make the dealer bust is a good hand.

Don’t Shout… tinkle your nose… finger your ears… & definitely don’t fart! That’s what I follow! Rest everything is fine.
