I was reading another thread here on the forum about a new player who had made the whole table angry at him because his lack of experience. I just wanted to point out to other new players that there are all sorts of places you can play for free online, this is a great way to get comfortable with a game before you go to the real tables.

I have to agree-the tables are not the place to learn. If you want to learn by watching others play at the table that’s fine, but don’t slow up play for those who want to have a nice, swift game.

Loads of free softwares are available on the internet. Find one, practice and then arrive at the casino is the best strategy.

Pretty true! I initially started playing after reading books and practicing with friends. Later on I found some softwares online and then I started practicing with them & finally I hit the casino floor after about a year’s hard work.

I had followed a little different path! I landed in casino right in the beginning. I learned at the casino by observing players. After I gained some knowledge and confidence, I started playing but soon I was broke and hence started learning it in the right manner.

I have played 21 online as well and had I done that earlier with some people to learn from, I probably would have spared myself some angry tablemates. Oh well, online gaming is fun because I usually play the free stuff and try to win some free rolls to get into money the free way.

Yeah! learning online is fun. All you need a ID & Password and download a game. But I seriously doubt if the free and professional options are same! Maybe they have kept the free one to lure you and hence it would be a bit more stupid kind!

I learned it from my friends and a book. I don’t have the book now but it was great. It had almost all the basic techniques listed there in.

im just starting on the game fully, i have less than 3 month on the game with basiclly no inconveniences, what i did was to practice on fun mode on the online casino i selected, after two weeks with these strategy charts, quite easy to undestand and learn, then i switched to playing for real which was quite a experience and finally ive been playing on a real casino on my location, the ppl on the table knew i was a novice but treated me well.

Hi guys,
I do agree with you that new people to bj should not play it with the old sharks of that game. Unfortunately, I am one of those from the first group.
However, I do not believe that playing in those free casinos Is the way to get to know bj appropriately. I have personally spent loads of time trying to master bj that way. I have even look up few of those flashy websites teaching you the basics of bj, but most of them turned out to be yet another way for some pips to make money and not to teach you at least some essential trice of the real thing. It wasn’t until by accident I clicked on a link somewhere when I found something worth looking at. So this goes yo all of you bj lovers who are lost like I was before:ONLINE BLACKJACK GUIDE. Have a look maybe this will help you get to know that game better. Just like it helped me.
Peace

What is up with computer software for learning why not stick to actually dealing the game yourself to your self. You are able to notice more subtle nuances about the game. For example more times than none. Like 55-60 times out of 100, if you are just playing the dealer you will notice that the ration between the cards is 2:2:1. , +valued cards:-valued cards:neutral cards. That coupled with knowing How many cards have come out the deck and knowing if the count is high+ or high -, you have a higher playing effeciency that defies the count you are using. I believe this just works with the hi-lo count. I believe you could get as high as percent playing effeciency playing like that. But you would have to keep track of how many 2-‘6s, 10-aces, and 7-9’s have come out the deck to determine the ratio. And make a deciesion based on that for example… If there are a shortage of 7-9’s left in the deck with a high count of say 6 in a dd game the chance’s of pulling a 20 or 21 and drawing or betting the dealer are alot higher than if there were an abundance of 7-9’s left to be played. There for wouldn’t you bet a little more than you normally do at high counts of +6. I do and man is it nice. For more information on tracking 7-9’s and knowing the ration between the cards look at my post in advance strategy section.

They mean playing blackjack simulation programs like casino verite. And about learning the basics of the game.. Do what I did break down basic strategy into 32 short sentences to memorize and record them leaving in time to repeat them. Then listen to them on your way to work, on a smoke break, during commercials on the t.v., while your sleeping for hypnosis training, and always repeat them. In 1 week you should have it down. It aint that hard to remember 32 sentences hell holly wood actors and actresses have to remember thousands of lines. You should be ablel to remeber 30 or so. Then do the same thing with the I18 and fab 4 indexes record them repeat them and wa la memorized just like that. And as for the counting figure that it will take about two weeks to count through a deck in thirty seconds. Then spend the next six months with chips and deal to yourself before going to a casino. After dealing to yourself for that long you should be able to win horrendous amounts of money even while your playing all counts in a short period of time
