I got backed off at one of the casinos in Las Vegas few days back. I hate these places that always have the dealer announce “checks in play” or “green in play”. Like WTF? The table sign says $5 minimum bet $500 maximum bet. Soon as you go from $5 to $25 they start troubling you.

I start playing and I was flat betting for about a half hour cause I wasn’t getting good counts. Best I got in those shoes was probably +2 or +3 so my highest bet was $25 at the most. So I finally get a very very good shoe going and the count went from about 0 and skyrocketed to about +8 after one round. I was playing a 1-5 spread at a $5 table so my bet went from 1 unit to 8. So I bet my 8 units and catch some crappy cards and the dealer catches a 3 or a 5 or something like that, and the dealer ends up busting and I win. So now the count is still enormously high at around +13 and I still keep my max bet out. Cards are delt and I get a black jack. Ok, next round the count is still hovering around +13 so I keep the same bet out and catch a A,9 and end up winning that too. Next I see these 2 security guards in the center of the pit. So I think to myself maybe they are about to do a fill for the table. So next thing I know the floor person asks the dealer to stop dealing cards. So some guy at the other end of the table says jokingly “Why did they stop? Are they going to kick someone out?” Before I know it the floor person points to me and tells the dealer “This guy is going to color up and leave now.” So I ask why and all she does is shake her head no and doesn’t say anything to me. So they give me my chips and I walk toward the cage.

Security discreetly follows near me as if I am freaking stupid and don’t see them. So I cash out. Before I leave I go back to the pit area and want a legit answer before I leave. That’s only fair to give me a good reason. A head shake no is not acceptable. So I ask the bitchy grumpy floor lady and she keeps giving me the hand and head shakes, so I ask to see the next person in charge. So I speak to the next ass in charge and he says “We don’t like your play.” So I said “Well there’s a few things I don’t like about you by just looking at you but I don’t make a big stink about it and embarrass you in front of everyone.” So all he says is “We don’t like your play and how you bet from $5 to $25 to $40.” I said “Is that against the game rules? Do you have the rules listed on paper that says I am not allowed to do that?” He says “No we don’t have any of that. Sorry sir we have the right to refuse anyone playing here because this is private property. You are welcome to play craps, roulette, or three card poker, but not black jack.” So I said “I don’t know how to play those games, but I bet you guys would love that.” So he doesn’t say anything and just walks away from me. All that time the 2 security guards were standing behind me across the way. So I turn around and notice them starring at me like I am some serial killer. I was really really frustrated after this incidence. I have vowed to never visit any casino from now on.

I was at the casino one day, playing a table with this wonderfully sweet elderly lady - think central casting stereotypical granny. Young guy comes to the table , just turned 21, never played before. Everyone was kind to him, explaining the game. He gets two face cards, wants to split them. Granny sweetly turns to him and says “Honey, if you had a 10-inch @#^% , would you cut it in half ?” We were howling !

While I was playing in a six deck game I was being friendly with a dealer and chatting with him. I was at 3 rd base and probably three other people at the table. At the end of one shoe he pulled out the remaining card that hadnt been played yet, turned them over as he went to put them in the discard tray, and fanned them out to show only me that three of the next four cards were aces. I didn’t really know how to interpret this as no ones ever done it before. I’m also not sure how he knew there were that many aces left or if he just looked for his own sake and when he saw it showed me as well???

No one else noticed what he did. Is there a way for me to use this info either by tracking these aces after they come out of the shuffle machine or by looking for more helpful showings from the dealer in the future??? I feel that this has to be useful in some way. Any thoughts???

I find this to be especially true in casinos. One person when asked why are you playing 6 to 5 blackjack when 3 to 2 is offered his response “I thought that 6 to 5 was more than 3 to 2!!!” That’s third or fourth grade math!! Second there are two roulette games in the same casino write next to each other one has 2 zeros and the other has 1 there are people playing on the 2 zero one when the one zero has half the edge!! One time a told a player that had a 16 vs my 7 that he would win 12% more often if he hit his hand and he decided to stay!!!

I got into argument with two clowns at the Hilton LV because I kept surrendering when called for. They thought that was not a manly thing to do, and that it was also screwing up their cards. I had to tell of both of them that I absolutely did not want to hear any commentary from them about my play. I had to get quite adamant about it to shut them up.

Funny thing was, I had misread the surrender table in the KO book and I was not even surrendering every hand I should. Not only that, was using a basic strategy table for dealer stays on soft 17! So there were even more surrender plays I missed, such as 17 or two 8s against an Ace!

I guess if I ever play there again with either of those guys there might be a brawl—LOL. It’s funny how people like to blame others for their own bad play. The KO book has a complicated “proof” of how bad play does not affect anything. It only affects you if you let it. We tend to remember the times someone messes up that hurt us, not the times they save the table. Do yourself a favor, ignore the bad play of others! It is so commonplace anyway

A friend of mine who is not an avid gamer was in Las Vegas last week and sent me an email about this unique form of BJ at the Casino Royale on the strip. Apparently it works when you play 2 hands. after the 1st 2 cards are dealt you can switch the last 2 from one hand to the other if you want! I have not got any more info from him or the casino on further rules….like if you do a switch you forfeit your right to split or double???? This sounds like an interesting option to have. Anyone else ever heard of this or even played it?

Great games but watch the dealers carefully. In five days last week,I caught dealers shorting my buy-ins six different times. Always for $10 or $15 dollars.Caught them short changing my color up once,as well.

I’m not saying its house policy, but they get a lot of break-in dealers who make a lot of mistakes.I got paid on a couple of pushes and pushed on a couple of losses, but I didn’t once get extra chips on my buy-ins, just shorts.

A few months ago, a couple of my buddies and my girlfriend came over for a poker game. Since we were all sort of broke and could only buy some beer, we used candy and cookies and other edible things to ‘bet against.’ Not very manly, but it was worth it.

Well, my bud, Josh, started hittin’ the bottles a little more than he should have. He never played Poker before and we just finished explaining the rules to him. After a few rounds, he’s down to his last few pieces of sugar confections, and he goes all in. So we all shrug, and put half our pots in with his.

He gets a royal flush, so we’re sort of drawn back. We now also realized Josh is officially hammered, the whole drunken man thing. We re-shuffle, and deal out again. This time we all had severely bad hands and Josh one with three of a kind. We deal and Josh gets yet ANOTHER Royal flush!

We stopped playing after that, calling it quits. Josh then passed out on my couch. When he woke up the next morning, besides suffering a severe hangover, he said he couldn’t remember if we actually played poker or not. Poor guy - he just played amazing hands and can’t remember it.

Needless to say, we avoided playing Poker for quite some time afterwards.
