What is your favorite Blackjack side bet?

My favorite is Field of Gold where the first 2 cards that each player has are used for wins. I have never been able to get an Ace/Jack Suited, but it is my dream! It’s actually pretty good, and the house advantage isn’t too high. I know some of the side bets have a huge house advantage, but this one isn’t too bad.

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas and I would like to try my hand at this side bet
while I’m there.

I tried signing up with Trackjack and Blackjack News, but they don’t seem to mention
the Field Gold side bet.

At few Casino here, they’ve got a side bet of “Lucky Lady”, which is, if your first two cards equal 20 (face cards or A,9) then you get at LEAST 4:1 on the side bet. If it’s two matching cards, I think it pays 10:1 and if it’s two identical cards, it pays 100:1. What’s a good count to bet on something like that? Many times do I get facecards when the count is +4 or more, but a friend figured out, +6 would be the ideal count to throw down a few bets on the Lucky Lady.

Anyone agree/disagree?

Do you have a favorite blackjack variant?

My favorite is Blackjack Switch where you play 2 hands at a time. It reminds me of when my brother and I tried to play 4 player card games when we were younger and it was just the two of us. I only play this for fun, not as a money making scheme.

I was thinking… what would the effect (on the house edge) be if there was a rule where “suited wins (i.e. any winning hand where all the cards were of the same suit) pay 11:10” is?

Ideally, I would like players to use this thread as a way of suggesting novel rule variations to blackjack. Ideally, these would also be variants that accommodated the requirements of all both basic strategy and advantage players whilst still allowing the house to make a profit over the long run.

Any ideas?

I was on a cruise ship and if you got a 21 with a queen, you won 9-1 on the side bet. It seemed a bit far fetched for my liking and I hardly saw anyone win the side bet. When a lady won the side bet she wasn’t getting back more than she had already been on that circle through the night. Definitely a suckers bet.
